About
Colourful, richly textured art for people who love good food and good company.
From perfectionism to just enjoying it
I've always loved art. But for a long time I couldn't actually make it, not the way I wanted to. I'd get in my own way, chasing perfect, and never let a piece just be. It stopped being fun.
Then I found oil pastels. Something about them gave me permission to loosen my grip. To stop correcting, stop fixing, and just draw, the print on the table, the chillies in my fridge, the everyday things I'd passed without a second look. For the first time, I wasn't trying to make it perfect. I was just enjoying it.
That's where Joio comes from.
Joio Prints, Originals & Commissions
With the roots in Wales, it was important to incorporate this into the art, and nothing was more fitting to the journey than 'Joio'.
joio (Welsh), verb
/ˈd͡ʒɔi̯ɔ/
apheretic form of enjoio: to enjoy.
It's not really a thing, it's the feeling. And it's the whole point of everything here: art made for the joy of making it, in the hope it brings a bit of that same joy to your walls.
Prints are reproductions of original artwork, available in multiple sizes, the same piece, sized for your space.
Originals are the real thing: the actual one-off artwork, textures and all. Once an original sells, it's gone.
Commissions are made just for you. Have a favourite drink or memory in mind? Get in touch and we'll make it happen.
